Please Note:

China/LCL
Less than Container loads (LCL) both import and export are shipped via Dublin port at present. However, it is very important to note that when you are shipping LCL from China to Ireland (Ordering 2-3-4 pallets from China) that you arrange it via us.

When you are shipping of the goods from China via LCL we can agree all the charges with you in advance. Goods are shipped on an FOB basis.

If you buy on an CIF basis they will charge you for the cost of the transport to Ireland (which is included in your item price). You have no control over what they are charging for this. When the goods arrive in Dublin on a CIF basis the local charges can be 3 times what are charged on an FOB/Agreed with Greyhound basis. For this reason, we would always recommend that you but FOB China and arrange via Greyhound Express. It saves money.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is sea freight forwarding?

Sea freight forwarding is the method of international transport using cargo ships. Large goods or high volume quantities are packed into containers which are then loaded onto shipping vessels for transport to their destination.

  • How does sea freight work?

Generally, goods are packed into shipping containers. The freight forwarder will then book space for these containers on a shipping vessel. For some items, like cars or truck, these can be rolled onto the cargo ship without a container.

  • What is the difference between FCL and LCL?

FCL (full container load) shipments are for goods large enough, or in high enough volume to require their own shipping container. FCL is charged as a flat fee per container. LCL (less than container load) shipments are for goods too small to fill an entire container. With LCL your will share container space with other customer’s items and shipping is usually charged per cubic metre.
